Ortega Trainer (2x2)

This tool should allow you to practise the Ortega method on your 2x2. You can generate a scramble and the tool will walk you through lookahead and allow you to visualise the moves you are making on a virtual cube.

Move notation & practice tips

R/L = right/left, U/D = top/bottom, F/B = front/back. A letter is a 90° clockwise turn looking straight at that face; an apostrophe means anticlockwise; 2 means a half-turn.

x, y and z rotate the whole cube like R, U and F. x2 and z2 are whole-cube half-turns. Camera dragging only changes the view; it does not change the move letters.

Move counts use face turns: R2 counts as one move. Whole-cube rotations are listed separately.

A matching pair, or bar, is two side stickers of the same colour next to each other in one layer. In PBL, check both layers.

Ortega deliberately uses a face first. The side colours do not need to match until PBL. Faces may temporarily break during an algorithm; finish the full algorithm.
